About Wales

On April 3, 2009, the Tsawwassen First Nation ratified the first urban treaty in British Columbia.  The Treaty provides municipal, provincial, and federal types of jurisdiction over a land base of 1,800 acres (724 hectares) in the Lower Mainland; control of our economic and political destiny; and autonomy over lands, resources, governance, and social programming.

Through the Treaty, TFN established the TFN Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) to develop TFN Lands in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable manner and to facilitate business relationships.  TEDC actively seeks partners to create developments that will generate short and long term land leases and partnership revenues and provide skills, training and employment opportunities for TFN Members and their businesses.
